Privacy Policy

This policy explains what StreamDock collects, how we use it, and your choices. It applies to all StreamDock clients — desktop (Windows and macOS), TV (Fire TV and Android TV), and mobile (iOS and Android).

What we collect

Account: your email address and a securely hashed password, or — if you sign in with Google — the basic profile information Google provides. We also store your app language preference.
Profile & activity (CineDock): the username, bio, avatar/profile image and links you choose to add, plus the ratings, reviews, watchlists, custom posters, follows, and groups you create in the app.
Subscription tracker (SubsTrack): the streaming subscriptions and costs you choose to enter, so we can show you your spending overview.
Search & discovery: the text you type into AI search, which is sent to our AI provider to interpret your request, and title look-ups sent to our metadata and availability providers to find where a title streams. We also record which search results and recommendations you open, so the app can learn what worked and improve future results for you and for everyone.
Taste profile: from your in-app activity (ratings, favorites, watchlist, episodes watched, "not interested" choices, and the results you open) we derive a per-account taste profile — for example the genres, eras, countries, and actors or directors you gravitate to. It exists to personalize your recommendations.
Technical data: basic device and log information and your approximate location derived from your IP address (used to show correct regional streaming availability), website analytics, and in-app product-usage, crash and session-replay data — which screens and features you use, error reports, and recordings of your in-app sessions (with text inputs masked) — to find and fix problems and improve the apps during the beta.

We never receive the passwords for your streaming services. You sign in to Netflix, Prime Video, and the others directly with each provider; StreamDock only opens their official apps or sites.

During the free open beta we do not collect any payment information, because there are no payments.

How we use it

to provide and operate the app and its features;
to authenticate you and keep your account secure;
to send account emails such as email confirmation and password reset, in your chosen language;
to power AI search and show accurate, region-correct streaming availability;
to personalize your experience — your taste profile drives the "Suggested for you" rows and the ordering of discovery results, and your "not interested" choices remove titles and reduce genres you don't want;
to understand usage and improve the app.

Personalization & your taste profile

Personalization is part of the Service: we process your in-app activity (described above) to build your taste profile and recommend titles you're likely to enjoy. This profile is tied to your account, is never shown to other users, and is deleted with your account. You can shape it at any time — rating titles, marking "not interested", or using the per-genre "show fewer like this" option all adjust it immediately.

Aggregated insights — only with your consent

Separately from personalization, we may produce aggregated, anonymous statistics about viewing trends (for example: "40% of users in Italy watch anime weekly") and share them with partners or use them in research and reports. These statistics never contain your name, email, account ID, or any data that could identify you.

This only happens for accounts that have explicitly opted in via the "Personalized experience" prompt or the equivalent switch in the app's Settings. The choice is optional, free, and never a condition for using StreamDock. You can withdraw it at any time with the same switch (Settings → Preferences on TV, Settings on desktop, Profile → Settings on mobile) — withdrawing stops your data from contributing to any future aggregated statistics. We record when you grant or withdraw consent, as the law requires.

Service providers we use

We share data only as needed to run the Service, with providers acting on our behalf. We do not sell your personal information. These include:

Supabase — authentication and database (stores your account and app data);
Anthropic (Claude) — processes your AI search text to interpret it;
TMDB and Movie of the Night (Streaming Availability) — title metadata and where-to-watch look-ups;
Google — sign-in (if you use it) and website analytics;
Vercel — hosting and analytics;
PostHog (EU) — product analytics, error reporting and session replays, to understand how the apps are used, fix bugs and improve them;
our email provider — to deliver account emails.

Your choices & rights

You can view and edit your profile in the app, and you can delete your account at any time, which removes your associated data (including your taste profile). You can grant or withdraw the aggregated-insights consent at any time from the app's Settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or erase your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active and delete it when you delete your account, except where we must keep limited information to comply with the law. Note that, because StreamDock is in beta, data may occasionally be reset or lost as the product evolves.

Children

StreamDock is not intended for anyone under 16 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
